He was predeceased by: his wife Jeannette Houlemard West; his son Brian West, Sr.; and his mother Annie Erickson Knox. He is survived by: his sibling Jaunita Hornsby (Nello). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
