He was predeceased by: his parents, Lacy Freeman and Velma Freeman; and his brother Larry Freeman. He is survived by: his wife Jane Slay Freeman; his sons, Michael Freeman (Sheila) of Canton and Mark Freeman (Kathryn) of Bourne; his granddaughters, Emma Freeman and Madelyn Freeman; and his siblings, Ann Webb, Wanda Lipscomb and Ronnie Freeman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
