We are sad to announce that, on October 10, 2022, at the age of 97, Jo Ellen Abney of Slidell, Louisiana passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Jo Ellen Abney to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her father Alexander E. Harding; her husband John M. Abney Sr.; and her daughter Cheryl Abney Shepherd. She is survived by: her son John M. Abney Jr. (June) of Houston, Texas; and her grandchildren, Robert "Dale" Shepherd III (Denise), Lisa Sandifer (Ronnie), Shannon Shepherd, Heather Howard (Buddy), Bradley Shepherd, Ricky Shepherd (Gina) and Jay Abney (Stephany). She is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Donations to the First Baptist Church School Fund preferred, in lieu of flowers.
