He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Johnson; his children, Charles Thornton (Jenifer), Michael Thornton (Nicole) and Stephanie Thornton Mercadel (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Taylor Church, Alexis Church, Ethan Thornton, Kyle Thornton and Jonny Mercadel; and his brother Willie Thornton. He is also survived by extended family members and friends.
