He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Dutch" Schiel and Julia "Doddie" Melerine Schiel; and his great grandchild Ethan J. Bouche. He is survived by: his spouse Gail T. Schiel; his daughters, Sharon Bouche (Joseph) and Jill Richardson (Joseph); and his great grandchildren, Evan Bouche', Emily Bouche', Elise Bouche', Madison Reilly, Aubrey Reilly, Carter Richardson, Lincoln Richardson and Gavin "Hank" Schwing.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests Masses to be said in Melvin's honor.
