She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Purvis and Cassie Purvis; her husband Arthur F. Gomez; and her siblings, Edwin Purvis, Haskel Purvis, O. J. Purvis, Elsie Barnette, Bessie Locke, Tressie Cox, Myrtle Moering, Marjorie Blackman, Mary Gray, Winnie Ishee and Roselie Beckenbaugh.

She is survived by: her daughter Dawn Mayo; and her sister Miriam Chestnut. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
