With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert C. Schmalz of Slidell, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on December 19, 2023 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Schmalz and Isabella Fryer Schmalz; and his nephew Peter. He is survived by: his wife Josephine "Josie" A. Schmalz; his sons, Barry Schmalz (Courtney) and Robert C. Schmalz, Jr. (Donna); his stepchildren, Guy Rutledge (Rhonda), Kenny Rutledge (Amy) and Sharon Douglas (Scott); his sisters, June Rees and Elaine Kersh; and his nieces, Julie Appel (Eddie) and Jane Kersh Breland (Tommy). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
