He was predeceased by: his son John Jay Polit; his parents, Alton Polit and Hazel Albares Polit; and also Alicia Adam Polit. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Van Epps Polit; his son Gregg R. Polit (Nicolle); his grandchildren, Kristi Polit Johnson, Kristopher Polit, Renee Polit Zachary Cantrelle, Devin Cicero and Brittany Polit; and his former wife Alicia Louise Adam. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.

Donations to the Pantry Ministry of First Baptist Church, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
