He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Whitley and Annie Simmons Whitley; his wife Tressie Whitley; and his sisters, Gainelle Brewer, Linny Allen and Tinny Mosley.
He is survived by: his daughter Amanda Smith; his grandson Joshua Kyle Smith; his great grandchild Karlie Ann Smith; his siblings, A. J. Whitley (Wanda), Norma Whitley, Betty Price, Ruby Freeman (Gary) and Lottie Ann Coody; and his pet Brees. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
