We announce the death of Roy Kim Prater in Terrytown, Louisiana, born in Dumas, Texas, who passed away on July 23, 2026, at the age of 69. Roy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his wife Denise Patricia McGillicuddy Prater; his daughter Mary Kimberly Prater Sisk; his grandchildren, Grayson Kane Sisk, Aurora Grace Sisk, Colson Bane Sisk and Marigold Mahota Smith; and his parents, Cubina Mahota Prater and Douglas Walter Prater.

He is survived by: his children, Kathryn "Katie" Prater, Bridget Prater-Smith (Frank III) and Douglas Prater; his siblings, Mahota Lynn Prater and Douglas Drew Prater (Joyce); and his grandchildren, Frank "Kett" Burkette Smith IV, Birdie Mae Smith and Levi Roy Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that live plants be sent instead, which they will lovingly care for in Kim's memory.
