He was predeceased by : his parents, Elashey Mathews and Lou Ella Cole Mathews. He is survived by : his wife Eunice Clark Mathews of Vick, LA; his grandchildren, Clark Mathews, Cody Mathews, Sarah Mathews and Selene Mathews; and his great grandchildren, Coltyn Matthews and Rosalie Leqoc.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A celebration of life was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home (445 E Bontempt St, Marksville, LA 71351).
