He was predeceased by: his parents, Gus Spears and Julia McCoy Spears; and his siblings, Robert "Sonny" Spears, Joy Duplechain, Betty Aguillard and Gussie Ann Spears.
He is survived by: his wife Jackie Spears of Ville Platte; and his children, Jimmy Fontenot of Cecilia, Amy Fontenot of Ville Platte, Kelly Walker of Pineville and Katie Vidrine of Ville Platte. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the LaVille Funeral Home Chapel (2353 E Main St, Ville Platte, LA 70586). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church (1012 W Dardeau St, Ville Platte, LA 70586). A burial was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (6011 US-167, Ville Platte, LA 70586).
