He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Byrd Steele; his parents, Thomas Barney Steele and Velia Freeman Steele; and his siblings, Ada Lee Huff, Birdie Brown, Wonzie Jackson, Audrey Bass, Lucien Steele, Lloyd Steele, Adrian Steele and Raybon Steele.
He is survived by: his daughter Terrie; his son-in-law Derrick Crockford; his son Michael T Sr.; his daughter-in-law Lori Steele; his grandchildren, Jacob Roeling (Lauren), Carrie Laney (B. J.), Michael T. Steele Jr. (Emily), Abrielle Steele, Camden Steele and Ainsley Steele; and his great grandchildren, Callie Wright, Camille Roeling and Adley Laney. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
