She was predeceased by: her parents, James Ashford and Nonie Blakes Ashford; her daughter Vonceal Johnson Carter; her siblings, Ophelia Bethley, Carrie Brister, Matthew Ashford, Willie Ashford, Jesse Ashford and Nolan Ashford; her sister-in-law Betty Ashford; and her nephew Demond Ashford.
She is survived by: her sister Mary Ashford of New Orleans; her sister-in-law Mary Ashford of Austin; and her sibling's children, Donna Brown (Lennon), Olivia Johnson, Barbara Rudolph (Charles), Angela Ashford, Darlene Cosby (John), Stephanie Brister, Tonya Ashford-Jackson, Natasha Hogan, Thomas Bethley and Eric Ashford. She is also survived by cousins and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Rhodes Funeral Home - Washington Avenue (3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home (3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125).
