He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Staples and Vivian Staples; his sisters, Betty Pearl Hale and Sandra Sue Milstead; and his son-in-law Billy Medlin.
He is survived by: his wife Bobbie June Staples; his sister Dorthy Staples Nolan; his children, Lou Anne Sydes (Joe), Dana Marin Lewis (Gary), Charles Samuel Staples (Maggie) and Jimmy Staples (Lura); and his stepchildren, Dennis Earl Wilder (Laurie), Teresa Joan Medlin and Mark Andrew Wilder. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe West Monroe, LA (1321 N 7th St, West Monroe, LA 71291). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens (451 LA-151 N, Calhoun, LA 71225).
