He is survived by: his children, Janis Cobb (Doug) and Eugene Thornton; his grandchildren, DeBeau Thornton (Christy Antley), Brandi Thornton, Justin Cobb (Kaitlyn) and Ginny Cobb (Syd Finklea); his great grandchildren, Dylan Kelley, Anna Kelley, Samuel Battaglia, Hayden Cobb, Eli Green and Josie Finklea; his great great grandchildren, Emberlynn Peck and Enzlee Peck; his sister Nelda Hendrix; and his siblings-in-law, Edwin Turnage (Jackie) and Pam Thornton.
