He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald Fontenot and Mary Ann Thompson Fontenot; his godfather Wilfred "Uncle Shoe" Pitre; his father-in-law Leo Wilson Bernard; and his grandmother Eva Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Carlene Bernard Fontenot; his children, Deidre Romero, Derrick and Shane Fontenot (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Colten, Madelyn, Lane, Mallory and Ryder; his siblings, Debbie Charlie (Craig), Henry Fontenot (Kelly), Susan Ortego (James), Luke Fontenot and Judi Marcantel (Brandon); his mother-in-law Rosa Bernard; his stepmother Denise Fontenot; his stepsister Aleah West (Robert); and his close friend Molly. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
