He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Thornton and Mickey Thornton; his wife Gaydene Thornton; his daughter Amie Thornton; and his grandson Caleb Mincin.

He is survived by: his children, Jeffery Thornton (Mandi), Jessalyn Mincin (Dave) and Jakki Thompson; his grandchildren, Adam Thornton, Lexi Thornton, Carson Mincin, Claire Mincin, Grant Thompson and Lucy Thompson; his great grandchildren, Adaline Linder and Olivia Thornton; and his brother Ronald Thornton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Zion Baptist Church (1271 New Zion Rd, Winnsboro, LA 71295). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 at the New Zion Church Cemetery (1271 New Zion Rd, Winnsboro, LA 71295).
