She was predeceased by: her father Thomas Rudolph "Rudy" Gilbert; her aunt Margaret "Marg" Russell; her uncle Howard Russell; and her grandparents, Johnny, Eva Gilbert, Tom and Maggie Searcy.

She is survived by: her mother Sadie Searcy Gilbert of Winnsboro; her brother Tommy Gilbert (Shelia) of Winnsboro; her nieces, Cassie Dudden (Brad) of Denham Springs and Maggie Warner (Austin) of Winnsboro; her nephew Alex Gilbert of Baton Rouge; her close friend Donna Hitt of Winnsboro; and her pets, Salem and Mittens.

In lieu of flowers and to commemorate Ms. Kandy's legacy, donations can be made to River Cities Humane Society for cats.
