He was predeceased by: his parents, Ollie McLaurin and Norma McLaurin; and his siblings, Mildred Suggs, Helen Thames, Ida Mae Williams and Julius McLaurin.

He is survived by: his wife Pat Scott McLaurin; his daughters, Rhonda McLaurin and Allison Courtney (Robbie); his sisters, Betty Shields and Eleanor Johnson (Vernon); his grandson Ian Venable; and his sisters, Claire Venable and Ryan Venable.
