He was predeceased by: his wife Paula Johnston (Murray); his parents, Edward Johnston and Catherine Johnston; and his siblings, Mary McKenney, Josephine Cunningham, Thomas Johnston, Virginia Farnsworth, Denice Cunningham and Susan Johnston.
He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Johnston of Abington, Robert Johnston (Marlaina Johnston) of Lynn, Jessica Murphy (Jason Murphy) of Hingham and Kaitlyn McGary (Lucas McGary) of Milton; his grandchildren, Finola, Rowan, Harper, Colm, Carson, Gavin, Camryn, James and Stella; and his sisters, Arlene Dwyer and Patricia Feeney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
