He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice and John. He is survived by: his friends, John and Mary; his wife Mary Schrecengost; his children, Mike (Susan Martin) of San Francisco, CA, Maureen (Buster O'Brien) of Acton, MA and Kate (Brian Irwin) of Windham, NH; his grandchildren, Annie, CJ, Abby, Ruby, Teddy, Lucy, Jack and Austin; and his siblings, Denise, Jim, Joe, Bob and Pepper. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and treasured friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Acton Funeral Home (470 Massachusetts Ave, Acton, MA 01720). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 1:30 PM at the St. Irene's Catholic Church (181 East St, Carlisle, MA 01741).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Lung Transplant Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital or Care Dimensions Hospice.
