With sadness, we share the passing of Joanne H. Surprenant of Acushnet, Massachusetts. Joanne, born on June 7, 1944 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on September 13, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Kershaw and Florence Kershaw (Duchaine); her husband Eugene J. Surprenant; and her sister Charlotte Cathcart. She is survived by: her children, David Deneault (Monique) and Paula Ruscik (Steven); her siblings, James Kershaw (Patricia), Geraldine Kuss (Mark) and Steven Vaughan (Deborah); and her grandchildren, Brandon Deneault (Lindsey), Zachary Ruscik, Amber Ruscik and Courtney Deneault (Brian). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Gabriel the Archangel Church (343 Tarkiln Hill Rd, New Bedford, MA 02745). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at the Acushnet Cemetery (91 Main St, Acushnet, MA 02743).
