David O. Nelson Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David O. Nelson of Andover, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 2, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen Nelson and Nels Nelson; his wife Kay O'Neil; his children, Nels (Eline Bakker (Somerville)), Kaylea (Ben Heller (Madison) and Ben (Adrienne Wells (Amherst)); his siblings, Melanie and Matthew of Newington, CT; his grandchildren, Meike, Tygo, Blaise, Jasper and Dylan; his aunt Martha; his uncle George Walsh (Andover); and his brother Michael. He was also cherished by cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Addison Gallery of American Art or to the Nelson Family Scholarship Fund at Bates College.
