He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Doherty and Catherine Doherty; his childhood sweetheart Grace; and his siblings, Henry, Edward and Ann Fahey.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Doherty (Maura) of Haverhill, Michael Doherty (Sandra Perry) and Patricia Bronson of Plaistow; his grandchildren, Amanda Bronson, David Bronson, Megan Demins, Erin Burrows, Sean Doherty and Jennifer Callahan; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte Callahan, Tripp Callahan, Freddy Callahan, Nolan Demins, Carson Demins and Kellan Demins.
