She was predeceased by: her parents, Frances Julia (Alt) and Francis Arthur Kavanagh, Jr.; and her children, Heather Jean Black, Johanna Catherine Black, Eric Atwood Black and Emily Frances Black.

She is survived by: her siblings, Francis Arthur Kavanagh III, Lyssa Black Fassett and Cathleen Kelly; her spouse UMass; her grandchildren, Lila Catherine Bailey, Nora Jane Bailey, Sebastian Atwood Black and Miles Francis Black; and her pet Joan.
