Michael Senoyuit III wrote a sympathy message

“Captain Majors loved the men and women she mentored. They were her children and she always treated them as such. A true pioneer in Navy Nursing, but more importantly, a very good friend and fellow devout Catholic. A true friend can never be replaced. My heart is shattered. Eternal Memory, Mary Jo, Eternal Memory.”
