With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Eleanor Butler (Bedford, Massachusetts), born in Exeter, New Hampshire, who passed away on November 21, 2025 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman and Ruth; and her siblings, Barbara Smith Newell and Kenneth Smith. She is survived by: her husband John; her children, Bruce B. Butler of Lexington, John E. Butler (Jane) of Charlestown and Robin B. DiGiammarino (Paul) of Charlestown; and her grandchildren, Sandra (Kate), Tim (Emily), Lizzy (Phil), David (Kelly), Julia (Scott) and Mark (Molly). She is also survived by greatgrandchildren.
Ellie was a lifelong learner, whether gracefully pivoting to Zoom church services and yoga classes in the pandemic or keeping up with her grandchildren on Instagram and FaceTime.
