We announce the death of John R Platt Sr. of Bellingham, Massachusetts, who passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 84. John will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel Sowell Platt Steinberg and Elliot C. Platt Sr.; his siblings, Joanne Platt Vantile and Elliot Platt II; his cousin Pearl Sowell Smith; and his close friend Homer (Pat Walton).
He is survived by: his wife Roberta Wolff Platt; his children, John R. Platt Jr., Tanya Platt Murphy (Robert Murphy) and Steven R. Platt (Kristyn Mattos Platt); his grandchildren, Michael E. Platt, Emmitt J. Tucker, Ahlea R. Tucker, Savannah R. Platt and Secelia R. Platt; his brother Robert Platt Sr.; his aunt Virgie Sowell; his friends, Judge Rudolph Pierce and Robert Aston; Phyllis.
