He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Johnston and Catherine W. Johnston (Stewart); and his brother Robert C. Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Carol A. Johnston (Costine); his children, David A. Johnston (Shelley) of Milford and Cindy A. Fijux (Rene) of Watertown; his grandchildren, Lindsey Johnston, Ally Fijux and Jake Fijux; his sister-in-law Ginny Czarnowski (Steve) of Waltham; and his nieces and nephews, Brad Czarnowski, Jeff Czarnowski, Mark Johnston, Laurie O'Connor and David Johnston. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home (270 Main St, Watertown, MA 02472). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Church (130 Common St, Belmont, MA 02478).
