John A. Gallagher Obituary
John A Gallagher, 70, died peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Beverly Hospital, following a long illness.
John held many jobs over his life, working as a lifeguard for the City of Gloucester, Sintered Metals, Cape Ann Forge and most recently as a security guard at Gorton's. Unusually kind, John was always quick to a joke and a smile and had a natural gift of befriending just about everyone he met. In the past years when he had worked security at Gorton's, he never missed an opportunity to greet the employees coming and going to work. While perhaps generous to a fault, he would always go out of his way to help anyone in need. John was a lifelong, diehard fan of the Boston Bruins, loved classic rock, 80's action movies and making people laugh.
John is survived by his wife Doreen; his sons Jeremy and his wife Caitlin, Joshua and his partner Torrie Robinson, Justin, Jarred and his daughter Shannon and her partner Mark Petrou; his sister Kathy Gallagher Ernet; nephew Edward J. Ernest (EJ) and his wife Monica and their children Gabriela Martin, Liam and Alana Grace; niece Bridget A Ernest, nephew Joseph N. Gallagher and many more nieces and nephews.
John is predeceased by his parents Joe and Kaye Gallagher, his sister Mary Christine, brother Joseph N., sister-in-law Sherri and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester, MA.
