He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth Hauswirth (Kiley); his parents, John Hauswirth and Catherine Hauswirth of Watertown; and his siblings, Jack Hauswirth and Catherine Arsenault.

He is survived by: his children, Joseph Hauswirth (Christine) of Rhode Island, Kathy Patton (Steve Patton) of Ohio, Jack Hauswirth (Janet Hauswirth) of Boxborough and Susan Bortone (Bobby) of Watertown; and his grandchildren, Michael, Avarose, Katlyn, Stephen, Kameron, James, Jacqueline and Matthew. He is also survived by his family, friends.

In lieu of flowers his family requests that donations be made to: Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital.
