Sheila (Hart) Pallies Obituary

Sheila Kay (Hart) Pallies, born July 22, 1932, left us two weeks shy of her 90th birthday on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Blanche (Morse) Hart and James Joseph Hart, and grew up in Newton, MA. She married Joseph Desmond Pallies on July 26, 1957, in Las Vegas, where they both were working in the field of nuclear device testing. Sheila was a graduate of Brown University. Her passions, other than her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, included grammar and the English language. She was an editor at Digital Equipment Corporation for many years, contributing to the early years of the computer industry. Sheila raised her family in Acton, MA and most recently lived in Boxborough. She loved her annual summer vacations in Provincetown, politics, the Red Sox, family holidays and gatherings, cooking, reading, Sudoku and her cat, Bailey. Sheila loved to sing old songs and often had her family involved in sing-alongs.

Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, on Nov. 1, 2014 and her infant daughter, Mary, in June, 1960. Sheila will be deeply missed by her children: daughter Ann Pallies-Card and her husband Rick, son Michael Pallies, daughter Carol (Esperti) Pallies, and son John Pallies and his husband Pablo Barbalho. She is survived by her nine grandchildren: Nicole Esperti, Jaime Shanklin, Brian Card and his wife Alexa, Joe Esperti, Mark Esperti and his wife Katie Hutchins, Scott Card and his wife Savannah Clayton, Sophie Pallies, Daniel Pallies and his wife Jennifer Foster, and Macario Esperti. She also leaves two step-grandchildren: Lucas and Lidia Barbalho, and three great-grandchildren: Brayden Hutchins-Esperti, Aliya Shanklin and Henry Card. Sheila is survived by her sisters, Judith (Hart) Bayer and her husband Fredrick Bayer of Rolling Hills Estates, CA, and Jean (Hart) Cahill of Shelburne Falls, MA.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, July 13, from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. Services will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 10:00am at Acton Funeral Home, with burial to follow at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Great Road (Rte. 117), Maynard, MA.

Friends are invited back to John and Pablo's house, 10 Taylor Road, Stow, after the services to share stories and reminisce.
