He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Matses and Rose Matses (Constandy); and his siblings, Harold T. Matses, Nick Matses, John T. Matses, Sam Matses and Adell Seaborne.

He is survived by: his wife Louise Matses (Bova) of Boxford; and his children, Charles A. Matses (Linda) of Boxford, Debra L. Mathias (F. Jeffery Mathias) of Boxford, Steven C. Matses of North Andover, Cynthia Matses Stern (Rick) of Boxford, Alana Matses Dunn (Phil) of Newbury and Andrew C. Matses (Robin) of Boxford. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews.

Donations in his memory may be made to Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem, New Hampshire.
