He is survived by : his children, David P. Libbey (Susan Bessette), Lisa A. McCubrey (Scott) and Donna L. Rice (Matthew); his grandchildren, Kyle, Cole McCubrey, Jackson and Connor Rice; his stepgrandson Zachary Murnane; his great grandchild Brielle McCubrey; and his brother Rick Libbey of Andover.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mert's memory may be made to the Boylston Fire Department, 599 Main Street, Boylston.
