Alice T. Matchem Obituary
We announce the death of Alice T. Matchem (Bridgewater, Massachusetts), born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, who passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 89. Alice will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her son Matthew Matchem; her parents, Preston Slack and Eileen Slack (Mahoney); and her siblings, Beulah Crossen, Marion Bacon, Eileen Leary, Sheila Claybough and Veronica Powers.
She is survived by: her children, James Matchem (Susan) of Braintree, Geraldine Suttie of Taunton, Ann Matchem of Quincy, Leo Matchem (Jennifer) of Poulsbo, WA and Alice Philbrick (Paul) of Dover, NH; her grandchildren, Lucas, Lauralee Matchem, Denise, John Suttie, Margaret, Charleston Matchem, Samantha, Matthew, Christina and Alex Philbrick; and her siblings, Leo and Dorothy Slack.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chapman Funerals & Cremations - Bridgewater (98 Bedford St, Bridgewater, MA 02324). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Isadore Parish (340 Center St, Middleborough, MA 02346). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:30 AM at the St. Marys Cemetery (340 Center St, Middleborough, MA 02346).
