He was predeceased by : his close friend Francis X. Duffy; his wife Patricia A. Manning (O'Brien); and his siblings, Maureen Whitcher, Jeannie Hernon and James Manning.

He is survived by : his sons, John F. Manning Jr. of Brockton and Brian P. Manning; and his siblings, Thomas Manning of Walpole, Margaret Mayo of Randolph, Dorothy Pasquale of Abington and Kathleen Pimental of Quincy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
