“Mary-Paula Walsh was one of my favorite professors at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. She was brave, fierce and strong in her advocacy for students and made us keenly aware of the responsibility we carried forward for advocacy for others. She was an exceptional teacher in class and out of class. I remember having an argument with her in which I'm sure she thought she won and I'm sure I won. But the point is, she welcomed robust debate. She taught us all to be strong.”

Her kindness, generosity, compassion, and great capacity to love touched me deeply, and her brilliant mind, insatiable curiosity, and fierce advocacy for the "underdog" continue to inspire me. She is more than Professor Walsh to me: she is true teacher, example of how to follow Christ, and friend. Rest well in the Church Triumphant, blessed saint!”
