He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas A. Koen and Stella Koen (Czupryna); his wife Juanita Bernedo; and his brother-in-law James Coogan. He is survived by: his daughters, Nancy Koen of Burlington, MA and Maria Roderick (Charles) of Canton, MA.; and his siblings, Virginia Coogan of Wakefield, Thomas Koen (Claire) of Woburn and Sheila Fletcher (Thomas) of Brunswick, ME.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home (43 Winn St, Burlington, MA 01803). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Somerville Fire Department.
