Though Hwei may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her husband K. C. Chang; and her daughter Nora. She is survived by: her son Julian; and her grandson Luke.
In her final years, Alzheimer's left her only a core of laughter and playfulness with a touch of contrariness and wonder, often evidenced by her infamous raised eyebrow.
