Irving H. Goldberg Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Irving H. Goldberg of Cambridge, Massachusetts, who passed away on November 14, 2022 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Ziskin Goldberg (Field); and his sister Jean Goldberg Hotez. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Goldberg (Mark) and Daniel Goldberg (Mary K. Cullen); and his grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah and Finale Goldberg.
He made several crucial contributions to the field of science, including the discovery of the stabilizing effect of special nucleotides incorporated into RNA, which was foundational for the development of RNA vaccines, including those for COVID.
