He is survived by: his spouse Romelia Chavez (Lopez); his children, Esther "Janet" Chavez, Juan Antonio Chavez (Lilyvette Chavez), Vanessa Chavez, Javier Alfonzo Chavez (Jessica Acosta-Chavez), Edlyn Susan Chavez-Roldan (Jonathan Roldan) and Elizabeth Chavez; his grandchildren, Edgar Hernandez Jr., Christopher Hernandez, Allynette Chavez, Joeliz Chavez, Angelina Mungia, Eliel Chavez, Cristian Chavez, Sofia Chavez and Ellie Roldan; and his siblings, Rosa Bustamante, Carmen Chavez, Antonio Chaves and Grace Chavez.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the DeVito Funeral Home (761 Mt Auburn St, Watertown, MA 02472). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
