She was predeceased by: her husband Richard J. Smith; her parents, Joseph Whitty and Helen Whitty; and her grandchildren, Connor Joseph, Grace Louise and Thomas Richard Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Smitty of Smitty's Homemade Ice Cream, Richard J.'Smitty' of East Falmouth, Mary A. Finn (Thomas Landon) of Dennis, Elizabeth A. Barrera (Betty Ann), Joseph W. Smith (Susan) of Canton, Gerard C. Smith (Marcia) of Harwich and James B. Smith (Cathleen) of Somersworth, NH.; her grandchildren, Kaleigh, Molly, Emily, Billy, Katie, Brendan, Kevin, Danny, Jacob, Sean, Graham, Audrey, Sam, Kate and Ben; her sister-in-law Sister Eleanor Smith of St. Francis, WI; and her friend Paul F. McClellan of Intervale, NH.. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Pushard Family Funeral Home (210 Sherman St, Canton, MA 02021). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Oscar Romero Church (700 Washington St, Canton, MA 02021). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Betty had a deep Catholic faith and in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Sisters of Saint Francis Assisi http://www.lakeosfs.org, in Betty's memory.
