He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Gelfand (Goldberg) and Samuel Gelfand; and his brother Raymond Gelfand (late Thelma) of Baltimore, MD.. He is survived by: his wife Anita Gelfand (Mermelstein); his sons, Jerold Gelfand (Jennifer Nichols) of Lex, Richard Gelfand (Susan Glueck) of Ashland and Scott Gelfand of Brooklyn, NY.; his grandchildren, Carolyn, Nathan and Parker Gelfand; his sibling's children, Janice Weinstein, Nancy Kapp and Stacy Goren; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Dara Weinstein, Todd Weinstein, Tyler Kapp, Brooke Goren and Kevin Goren.
