“​​​Dearest Abdullah, Janean, Mary, Amir, Amari, Nadirah, Raushanah, Sahirah, Quadir, Mujihad, Wadi and​ ​​Famil​ies​, Our​​ prayers and love go out to you and yours in this time of unimaginable ​loss​ of your dear ​​​Marzuq​​, wonderful husband, father,​ son, brother, neighbour, co-worker, community contributor, beacon of light​ and friend. His nature and spirit were so kind and positive - a beautiful man!​ ​Marzuq has been on our wall for many years in a Joe Swayze photograph taken at goodnights chez lui in a candlelit table scene with other students. I love this photo. Marzuq was a five-day boarder in the Castle at the time. From the beginning, Marzuq stood head and shoulders above all - a beautiful soul shining through that intense, directed, athletic, extraordinary young man. Abdullah and Janean, so many times I have thought back in huge admiration of the lovely example you amazing parents have set for all of your family. ​You are devoted parents who knew just what to do and it was always remarkable. Your loss is heart breaking. Mary, your loss of your beloved husband is beyond imagination; may you find the strength to carry on and look after your two most wonderful boys. I know you only from one photograph and you are an amazing woman! Marzuq waited for his soulmate and that woman had to be extraordinary. That is you. Extraordinary. Muji, your heart and soul connected twin has been such a source of happiness for you over your lifetime - may you find the peace of mind and love to keep you on your path. Unimaginable. Hold onto all your beautiful memories to comfort you, dear one. We are in a small town on the edge of the lake if you or any of your family wish respite. Last night, Annie and I planted a small garden bed of English lavender and Russian sage aka Butterfly Bush in memory of Marzuq. The lavender smells glorious already and the Butterfly Bush will attract those lovely, romantic creatures that do so much good in nature - just like your beautiful brother. Wadi, you came to Nobles as the "little brother" and made your mark just as your remarkable brothers before you, brimming full of potential. We can only imagine that your heart is broken. For those of you we have not had the privilege to know we send our love. May your fondest memories sustain you. We love this Irish blessing and have found great joy and comfort in it on many occasions: On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you. And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight. When the canvas frays in the curach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home. May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
