He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Cotter and Esther Cotter; and his brother Mark Cotter of Walpole. He is survived by: his wife Susan Cotter (Fitzgerald); his children, Brian Cotter of Braintree and Stacy Lynn Bottary (Robert); his sister Deborah Sharpe (George) of Canton; and his grandchildren, Ashley Cotter, Ryan Bottary and Alyssa Bottary. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephew.
