She was predeceased by : her parents, Nelson Melvin and Hazel Lafond; and her siblings, Cathy Stewart and Richard Melvin. She is survived by : her husband Michael O'Connell; her children, Tammy Gagnon of Yarmouth, Laurie Stephens of Yarmouth and Thomas Powell Jr. of Maine; and her siblings, Kenneth Melvin of Falmouth, Dianna Pierce of Cotuit, Candice Barrett of Florida and Elizabeth Gabrenas. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rita's name to VNA of Cape Cod Hospice.
