John W. Merz Obituary
It is with sadness that the passing of John W. Merz of Charlton, Massachusetts is shared. John, born on December 19, 1934, passed away on September 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Merz and Christina Noble (Thayer); his sister Bertha Fogarty (Henry Fogarty); and his brother-in-law William Usinger. He is survived by: his significant other Carol Ann Merz (Usinger); his daughters, Terri Emerson (Nathan), Katherine Merz and Gretchen Cutler (Michael); his grandchildren, Abigail Finan (Kevin), Andrew Emerson (Ellen), Derek Briner (Elizabeth), Melissa Briner, Shane Gilman and William Cutler; his great grandchildren, Cameron Trundy, Cadence Briner, Aubrey Finan, Lillian Finan, Ryan Fournier and Mia Ortiz; his siblings-in-law, Emil Usinger (Bonnie) and Janice Usinger; and his pet Jack. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Overlook (88 Masonic Home Rd, Charlton, MA 01507).
