He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Gonsalves and Mary Gonsalves (Goes); and his sisters, Isabelle Gonsalves, Rita Houston, Gabrielle Gonsalves, Mary Misitano (Angie) and Theresa Flynn.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra J. (DeVincenzi); his children, Susan Brown (Billy) and John Gonsalves, Jr.; and his granddaughters, Holly Melancon (William) and Alyssa Burns. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
