He was predeceased by : his parents, Catherine B. Wangler (Schimmer) and Clarence P. Wangler of Buffalo, NY.; his sister Joan Stark (late Clarence) of Akron, NY.; and his sister-in-law Suzanne Dunn (late Frank) of Fort Collins, CO.. He is survived by : his spouse Gail M. Wangler; his children, Julie Anne Belou (Kenneth) of New Orleans, LA and John William of Chestnut Hill, MA.; his granddaughter Alexandra; his stepgrandchildren, Kortney (Robert), Kenneth, Jr. (Marley) and Katie (Chris); his siblings, Paul Wangler (Karen) of West Falls, NY, Ann Sayers (late William) of Akron, NY, Mary Young (late Jack) of Pembroke, NY, David Wangler (Marilyn) of St. Albert and Alberta; and his brother-in-law Daniel Reid (late Linda) of Fairport, NY. He is also survived by seven step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Office of Campus Ministry/Newman House, Boston College, McElroy 233, 140 Commonwealth Ave Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.

“Tom Wangler picked my wife, Sue & I uo at Logan Airport, when arrived from Basel, Switzerland, with two young chidren, Dyer and Susannah, in tow, He brought us to his former home in West Newton. Along with his wife, Gail, he welcomed us to Boston. Besides his kindness to us he was a special friend of fellow BC Professor, the Dutchman, Theodore Steeman OFM, with whom he shared his family meals. Tom drove us around to look for housing., and together we found a Brighton apartment..”
